S. T. Nankani and Hagan Limited, a trading company, has awarded scholarships to ten (10) students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The beneficiaries, three (3) females and seven (7) males, received three hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 300) each.
Mr. Manu Nankani, the Managing Director of the company, in a brief history of the scholarship, stated that the S. T. Nankani Scholarship Fund was instituted in 2003 as directed by the late Mr. S. T. Nankani, the ex–chairman of Nankani and Hagan Ltd. with the objective of assisting needy but brilliant students of KNUST pursuing programmes in Agriculture, Engineering, Science and Medical Sciences. Since 2003, the S. T. Nankani Scholarship Fund has been awarding annually to an average of 8-10 qualified second year students of KNUST, considering gender and regional balance in the selection process.
This year over sixty (60) applications for the scholarship were received but ten (10) were eventually shortlisted. The beneficiaries include Adoma Pokua (BSc. Biological Sciences), Enoch Nana Sakyi Agyare (BSc. Agriculture), Issah Rukaya (BSc. Post Harvest Technology), George Akuriba Agana (BSc. Agribusiness Management), Prosper Dzidzienyo (BSc. Chemical Engineering), Eric Kumeh Mensah (BSc. Natural Resource Management), Richard Mainza (BSc. Computer Science), Rukiya Danful (BSC Agriculture), Evans Nartey (BSc Telecom Engineering) and Francis Agyei Amponsah (BSc Biological Science).
Prof. Peter Donkor, the Pro Vice – Chancellor of KNUST, expressed his gratitude to S. T. Nankani and Hagan Limited for the support the company gives to students of the university and urged the company to extend the charity to a lot more students who merit the award.
